KIENGIR, Land of the Gods – Sumer

KI.EN.GIR  or KIENGI, as it was pronounced, is the name in Sumerian for Sumer /shumer/. Today more is known about this previously mythological land. Thanks to the discovery of thousands of clay tablets in the 19th century, the world became aware of its existance as it had been, before then, a mythological land. One of the things discovered about KIENGIR is that Sumer was a polytheistic culture. Sumerians had multiple gods.
