Sumerian Pantheon

There is no clear agreement about the Sumerian pantheon among scholars. However, there are certain gods in the Sumerian pantheon that appear constantly in the texts from Sumer, Akkad, and Assyria as well as in Babylon later on.

Sumerian Genealogy

The complications of the Sumerian gods’ relationships yielded more often than not confilcts about succession  in Sumer and Akkad. It was not enough to descend from one god or another. The following diagram shows the Sumerian genealogy.
